Taste Korean BBQ and Hot Pot at the New One Pot in Dublin

by admin

Columbus’ newest option for Korean barbecue and hot pot celebrates its grand opening this week!

One Pot opened its first location earlier this year in Cleveland Heights, and now they’re joining the Columbus dining scene. The eatery follows a similar format to hot pot/BBQ restaurants like KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, which has opened a couple locations in Columbus already.

One Pot takes over the former Joe’s Crab Shack spot in the Sun Center plaza in Dublin. The expansive building is perfect for this type of restaurant, which features large, specialized booths with built-in grills and chambers for hot pot soups.

This style of all-you-can-eat restaurants usually give you the choice of barbecue, hot pot, or both. But the entire table has to agree on the same thing.

Once you make your selection, they’ll take your initial order of meats and vegetables. We usually start with 2-3 options per person, and you can order more as dinner progresses.

Hot pot is similar: you choose your broth, vegetables, soy beans, meats, and noodles.

They’ll take drink orders, too, then turn you loose on the small bar that features a variety of sauces, oils, kimchi, and other small bites to supplement your meal. The server will turn on the grill and/or your warmer for your hot pot, and soon enough small plates will start cramming your table.

We chose the grill on this go-around. The sunken grills fill the center of the table and feature small vents along the sides that draw off the smoke. (Although the restaurant is still a little hazy and you WILL smell smoky by the end of the meal.) But as a group you start piling your meats and veggies into the grill. The server will offer to spray the grill with oil, but you can also grab butter from the sauce bar. We recommend also grabbing some oil, garlic, onions to “season” your grill as well.

The server will also swap out the grill during the meal if too many extra bits get stuck to it.

It should go without saying that these AYCE meals are best with a group, so you can all try different combinations of meats, veggies, sauces.

It’s a fun experience with kids, too, especially if they’re a little adventurous.

Hot Pot is obviously aware that your clothes will smell strongly after the meal, so near the front door they have a little atomizer that will spray a mist while you spin around. It helped… somewhat.

One Pot is open Sunday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
