Marlow’s Cheesesteaks at Budd Dairy Food Hall
There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- This week the North Market Downtown announced that Marlow’s Cheesesteaks will be joining its ranks sometime by mid-October. The Philadelphia-style sandwich shop takes the place of Willowbeez Soulveg, which recently shut down its stall in the northwest corner of the market. Marlow’s also operates a brick and mortar in Gahanna and a stall at Budd Dairy Food Hall.
- Next Monday, Sept. 30, a new eatery from the creator of Rooh in the Short North opens near Polaris. Flour Modern Pasta Bar will feature a prix fixe menu of appetizers, salads, and house-made cocktails, alongside desserts and a full cocktail menu. It’s located at 1540 Polaris Pkwy.
- Earlier this month, The Purple Door Cafe opened at the new Zora’s House in Weinland Park, serving coffee and tea from Fruits & Roots and snacks from Three Bites Bakery and Bake Me Happy.
- The first Columbus location of the Korean hot pot and barbecue restaurant One Pot opened last week at 3720 W. Dublin Granville Rd. in Dublin.
- The Gallo’s restaurant open opened its newest outpost this week, Gallo’s Pizza & Bar, at 5851 Frantz Rd. in Dublin. It focuses on New York-style pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches.
- Last week Boba Paradise & Cafe opened a stall at Bubbly Hall in New Albany.
- If you’ve been re-watching The Bear and you have a hankering for a Chicago beef sandwich, you can catch a pop-up at The Jury Room (22 E. Mound St. downtown) tonight – Friday, Sept. 27 – from 5-9 p.m. The bar will be open and you can get Chicago beef sandwiches for $12.
- The last Columbus-area Matt the Millers Tavern, at 6725 Avery-Muirfield Dr. in Dublin, has rebranded as MTM Tavern Steakhouse. The restaurant will also start incorporating menu items from Oscar’s of Dublin, which closed up earlier this year after nearly 30 years in business.
- Andy, Bethia, and Erin of Columbus Food Adventures launched a new Substack newsletter last week, called the Columbus Foodletter, featuring essays, reviews, and observations on Columbus’ dining scene. You can subscribe for free and paid versions.
- The Come & Go Center at 884 Oakland Park in Linden has new owners, and will continue doing meals to go and prepared foods, in addition to convenience store services.
- And in case you missed the news last week, it’s last call for SuperChef’s in Gahanna (closing Sept. 29) and The Butcher & Grocer in Grandview (closing this afternoon, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.).
