There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest news:

  • Yesterday the owners of Chapman’s Eat Market in German Village announced that they’ll be closing by the end of August. They decided not to renew their lease after it ends that month. Led by Chef BJ Lieberman, Chapman’s opened in 2020 during the pandemic, and quickly established a national reputation for itself, with the New York Times naming it one of the top 50 restaurants in the country in 2021.
  • The news also broke last week that family-owned Korean restaurant Diaspora is closing this week Thursday, July 3 after 18 years in business. Their space at 2118 N. High St. will become a walk-in location of the rapidly expanding 7 Brew Coffee chain.
  • This week Bar Italia opened at 4145 The Strand West at Easton Town Center, in the old Smith & Wollensky space. The small chain hearkens back to old school New York City Italian spots and features fresh pastas, homemade sauces, wines, cocktails, and more.
  • The Spanish-style bakery and cafe Tertulia soft opened last weekend at 997 N. High St. in the Short North. They serve up coffee, pastries, cheesecakes, tarts, and more treats.
  • The Boat House restaurant at Confluence Park will officially reopen on Wednesday, July 7. Its hours will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, with happy hour Wednesday through Friday from 4-6 p.m.
  • The East African Coffee House has opened at 4359 Morse Rd. in Gahanna. As the name implies, the shop features coffees source from eastern Africa, and features traditional Somali coffee preparations, espresso, matcha, and more specialty drinks.
  • Astra Rooftop, which has replaced Lumin SkyBar on the rooftop of the AC Hotel next to North Market, will officially open to the public on Friday, July 11.
  • After an extended hiatus to make repairs, The Galaxy Coffee truck returns to action on Thursday, July 3. It’s currently parked regularly at 3264 N. High St.
  • The Taco Nazo taco truck announced that they will move from their longtime home on Route 161 to to 2600 Morse Rd. in Northland, starting on July 7.
  • The Happy Little Treats vegan bakery announced that the last day in their Short North space will be Sunday, July 27. They’re in the process of moving to 1043 W. Third Ave. in Grandview; an opening date in the new space hasn’t been solidified yet.
