I’ve long been a fan of the hybrid business of coffee shops and bars, and downtown Columbus just welcomed a new option along Third Avenue: Cure Coffee & Cocktails. The shop quietly opened in recent weeks in a revamped building that includes a new front patio.

Cure’s storefront features brick walls, a long bar, local artwork on the walls, and a mix of tables and booths.

I really love the vibe. It’s calming and comfortable, with plenty of space to hang out, work, have a meeting, host an event.

I made just a quick first stop that included a couple coffee drinks, and was duly impressed with both. The barista on hand said they use Upper Cup Coffee in Olde Towne East. He pulled a lovely shot of espresso using a Brazilian roast. These roasts can often land dark and syrupy, but this was nicely balanced.

Kudos to the cortado as well. It’s just a lovely espresso drink.

Cure is an all-day hangout, opening early in the morning and staying open late. So if you stick around long enough, you can transition from coffee to cocktails.
Cure Coffee & Cocktails is open Tuesday-Wednesday from 7 a.m. to midnight; Thursday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to midnight.
