6 Columbus Coffee Drinks To Try This Fall

by admin

Fall is MY TIME TO SHINE. I look forward to these days of cooler weather, bright colors, and cozy evenings all year long. One of my favorite bonuses of autumn is the arrival of seasonal specials at local coffee shops. These range from innovative takes on the beloved pumpkin spice latte to creative ways of capturing the essence of fall. So here are six seasonal coffee drinks to try around Columbus!

Perhaps one of the most dramatic and iconic of local fall drinks is Roosevelt Coffeehouse’s S’moretado. The slightly high maintenance drink takes a traditional cortado (equal parts espresso and warmed milk) and serves it in a Gibraltar glass with a chocolate- and graham-cracker rim, with a toasted marshmallow on the side. Does it get more fall-like than that?!

I love the creativity coming out of Royal Flamingo, from the coffees they source to the roast profiles to the drinks. The Dupe, Where’s My Maple? is one of the more dynamic fall drinks to hit local menus. It replicates a maple latte without the actual maple syrup by using a house-made brown sugar simple syrup spiced with cardamom, coriander, clove, nutmeg, and – wait for it – toasted fenugreek!

Brioso always features a few winners in their seasonal drink line-up, and even with the cooler days of fall they’re still rocking the cold brew. Their Chillin Like a Villain takes their house cold brew and tops it with a chai-spiced cold foam and cinnamon.

Florin’s entry into the fall coffee game is the simple but easy-to-love Sweater Weather. It’s a cappuccino flavored with maple syrup (from one of the Florin team member’s family farm) and grated nutmeg. It wraps you up in a cozy taste of fall!

Moonbird Coffee is an adorable trailer parked on Holly Avenue in Grandview, just south of Fifth. I love their espresso and their Mystic Rhythm latte, and they tackle the season’s signature drink with The Pumpkin. The rich latte is made with a pumpkin butter infused with toasted mulling spices, brown butter, and Watershed Distillery Nocino.

Parable Coffee’s entire menu is top-notch, from their pour overs to their espresso to their specialty drinks, and their fall menu is no exception. Pictured above is the brown butter maple cortado with a touch of sage. But also not to be missed is I Yam What I Am, a latte built on espresso and flavored with yam and marshmallow.
